フィリピンの基本情報 (Basic Information)

Philippines is one of the largest island in the world with 7,107 islands and islets occupying the archipelago. Located in Southeast Asian region and bounded by South China Sea on the west and Pacific Ocean on the east.

People are called Filipinos of Indo-Malay, Chinese and Spanish ancestry. A total of 300,000 sq km land area and has 34,000 km coastline that considered as the longest in the world. About 104 million people living in the Philippines. The country was colonized by Spaniards a long period of time during 1520`s and controlled by Americans from 1900-1942. Also, occupied by Japanese from 1942-1944. The independence was granted last 1946 by Americans after 148 years of occupation.

It is divided in (3) three major islands the Luzon which is known as the largest island in the Philippine archipelago, Visayas known of its fine beaches and amusing coves and Mindanao which is known of its extraordinary forests best for nature lovers.

Manila is the capital of the Philippines which situated in Luzon. It is the center of commerce and industry, culture, arts and education. The national anthem is Lupang Hinirang while the flag of the Philippines is very unique among other countries because it signifies peace or war. It stands for freedom, justice, equality and nobility.   




気候 (Climate)

The climate in the Philippines is normally warm with rainfalls and gentle winds. These can be divided into (3) three, the wet or rainy seasons that falls on the months of June-October, the cool or dry season on November-February and the hot or dry season from March-May.



生活 (Life)

Living in the Philippines gives a fascinating experience of cultural diversity especially the Southeast Asian culture influenced by Spanish and US colonialism. Filipinos love music, as a fact that is expressed on various festivals or fiestas.

The life of the Filipino people revolves around the extended families, including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. 

In terms of religion, majority in population is Roman Catholic, others were Iglesia Ni Cristo, Protestant, Baptist, Apostolic and Muslim that concentrated on the southern end of the archipelago.

Filipino is the national language in the country and English is the official and commonly used especially in academic and professional settings. But aside from this language there are also more than a hundred dialects spoken around the country.  






衛生 (health)

In the Philippines, health services are offered by both public and private sector. Hospitals, pharmacies and even health centers is located all over the country. 



通貨 (currency)

The currnecy in the country is Peso with a code PHP that stand for Philippine peso. Bank notes come in P20, P50, P100, P200, P500 and P1,000 denominations while coins come in P1, P5, P10, 1c, 5c, 10c and 25c.

食事 (meal)

Major meals on most Filipinos are boiled or steam rice or noodles with small amount of chicken, meat, pork and fish along with assortment of fruits and cooked vegetables. Balut, a parboiled egg which has an embryonic duck inside, is a very known street foods.



交通 (traffic)

In Metro Manila, traffic is mostly experienced by travellers. While on provinces this is not a problem. 



出入国 (Entry into and departure from the country)

International flights enter mostly through Manila and Cebu. Philippine Airlines links to 26 cities and 19 countires through Manila International Airport. There are regular flights from Japan, Singapore and Australia and charter flights from Hongkong, United States and other major travel markets  enter through Cebu.

As long as you have passport and the country of your origin is among with which the Philippines has diplomatic relations, you can stay within 30 days in the Philippines. Visa is not required to enter the country but if you are planning to stay in 30days or more, you should secure visa with cost.

Upon departure, foreign currency taken must not exceed to the amount brought in. Cannot also take out money more than Php10,000.00.




関税 (customs duty)

Upon arrival, guests are required to undergo customs examination and fill-in baggage and currency declaration. The Bureau of Customs  requires guests to declare the amount of money more than US$ 3,000 to Central Bank of the Philippines.
